About

I am Vernon Delpesce, a husband and a father. I also have had the honor of serving as the CEO of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines since 2002, which has been an incredible experience.

This is my personal blog. It will focus on the leadership lessons I have learned over the last 36 years in my career. But I’m not done, I try to learn something each and every day. This blog helps me do as William Glasser suggests, “the best way to retain anything is to teach it.” It gives me an opportunity to clarify my thinking and write it down. If you are in a leadership position, or aspire to be, I hope you’ll find this blog interesting and helpful.

I also enjoy helping people and organizations reach new heights and find innovative ways of doing things that can make a greater difference in their community. As the leader of an organization with 57,000 members and 1300 staff, I get to practice what I learn on a daily basis.

I hope to write several posts each week that will be insightful, thought provoking, and relevant to you both personally and professionally. I encourage you to subscribe via email (see sidebar) or RSS feed. Also, follow me on Twitter @vdelpesce.
